MS Legal Search partners with the Anti-Defamation League to bring Jeannie Opdyke Smith to Houston.
This week MS Legal Search co-sponsored an event hosted by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a national organization that advocates tolerance and equality among all. MS Legal Search became involved through its membership in the “Community of Respect”, one of ADL’s many initiatives. The event, entitled “Courage to Care: A Righteous Gentile’s Story”, featured speaker Jeannie Opdyke Smith. Ms. Smith is the daughter of World War II survivor Irene Gut Opdyke, who was selflessly committed to the rescue of innocent Jews in Poland throughout the war. Ms. Smith travels nationwide, sharing her mother’s story with school groups and other communities, in hopes of keeping the memory of her mother and other war heroes alive. The incredible bravery shown by Ms. Opdyke has been immortalized in her 1999 autobiography, In My Hands: Memories of a Holocaust Rescuer and in the 2009 Broadway play, Irena’s Vow. For additional information about Irene Gut Opdyke’s story, see this clip from ABC’s Primetime. MS Legal Search is proud to have been a part of this powerful program and looks forward to future events.
